Specialties

Researcher and developer in artificial intelligence with an increased interest in high performance computing (GPGPU programming, CPU intrinsics, Kernel tweaking) and embedded computing. I specialise in state of the art computervision (deep learning), reinforcement learning, supervised learning, datamining, genetic algorithms and pathplanning. In short, I like to solve problems using artificial intelligence and try to squeeze out as much performance of the hardware in the process.

In my spare time I work on various open source projects. See my github page for currently active projects.

Employment

Teacher at the University of Amsterdam 2016 – 2017 Basic Python Programming for Astronomy and Astrophysics Master course. Teaching Python programming from a datascientist perspective. I co-developed the course and assignments geared towards astronomy and data analysis.

Technical Lead at the University of Amsterdam 2015 – 2017 Development of high performance, streaming data processing pipelines for the LOFAR radiotelescope. I was in charge of both software design and the hardware architecture. See aartfaac.org for more details about the project.

Software Developer at the University of Amsterdam 2012 – 2015 Development of high performance, streaming data processing pipelines for the LOFAR radiotelescope. My job was to develop the C++ framework that calibrates and images 40 Gbs-1 in realtime with as low a latency as possible. See aartfaac.org for more details about the project.

Software Developer at ThirdSight 2011 – 2012 Development on a human behavior analysis SDK. Maintaining and improving the computervision based analysis software that detects face poses and their emotional state.

Software Developer at Triple IT 2009 – 2010 Developing new media on the Google Android framework. Teaching Assistant at the University of Amsterdam 2008–2008 Teaching Assistant for the course Probabilistic Robotics.

Software Developer at Synetic 2004 – 2009 Development on Synetic’s content management system.
